Gunpla is a portmanteau of "Gundam Plastic Model". The Gunpla was first sold in 1980 and most kids in Japan bought many defferent models of Gunpla and built them. Of course I bought the gunpla that was "GOUF" for the first time. The Gunpla at that time was provided one color parts kit. For example, GOUF is dark blue only. So we needed to paint more color on the model to complete perfectly. But recent Gunpla is provided the multicolor parts kit. Another defference is that the recent Gunpla needs no adhesive bond, so little kids can build it easily. My son has three models of Gunpla and the first bulding was eight. Of course there are a lot of Gunpla builders other than kids in Japan.
